No all wheel drive, no low range, and sand will stop it the way sand stops any road crossover. If Hatta tracks or a dune evening are on your itinerary, rent the Tugella or a proper 4x4 and keep the Coolray for the city.

Caveat two: the boot doesn't match the ambition

At 330 litres, luggage space is the one place the Coolray feels its size. A weekend bag and a case go in without thought. A family's full airport load doesn't. Treat it as a quick runabout for two, or a light-packing family car, and you'll never notice the limit.
