The powertrain is the reason to book it

Peak torque arrives at 1,750 rpm and hangs around through the range you use every day, so overtaking a lane-hogger on the E11 is a squeeze of the pedal, not an event you plan. The seven-speed dual clutch shifts cleanly once rolling, with the usual moment of thought in slow car park manoeuvres that all dual clutches have. At a steady 120 the engine is barely working. You hear some wind around the mirrors instead, the tax on a body this upright, and it's mild enough that nobody in the back will comment.

Boot and back seat

Behind the tailgate there's 580 litres with the rear seats up, which in airport terms is two large cases and two carry-ons without folding anything. The load floor is square and tall, so bulky items go in without geometry puzzles. Three adults fit across the back seat properly, and headroom is a non-issue in a body this tall.

Cooling it down in the hot months

Big cabin, lots of glass, so give the AC a fighting chance in summer. It pulls hard from the front vents and the rear row gets dedicated vents, but a T2 that sat under the sun through an August afternoon needs a few minutes before it's civilised.
