Tesla Model 3 2021 - start from 297 AED / day
Nobody stalls a Tesla, but plenty of people spend their first five minutes in one looking for the start button. If you rent a Tesla Model 3 2021 in Dubai as your first EV, the learning curve is the real story, and it's shorter than you'd think. We hand this car over to renters from age 18, which almost no other desk in the city does, and most are comfortable before the end of the first drive. This page walks through what actually feels different behind the wheel, where the car earns its keep in Dubai traffic, and when it's worth paying more for the newer one.
The first ten minutes
There's no key and no start button. A card held to the door pillar opens the car, the same card tapped on the console pairs it, and pressing the brake turns it on. Drive sits on the right-hand stalk, and nearly everything else, mirrors, steering adjustment, vents, lives in the 15-inch screen. Give yourself those ten minutes in the car park instead of figuring it out on Sheikh Zayed Road. Set the mirrors, aim the AC, connect your phone. After that the car is easier to operate than whatever you drove before, not harder.
One-pedal driving in Dubai traffic
Lift off the accelerator and the car slows itself, firmly enough that you rarely touch the brake. It feels abrupt for the first few junctions. Trust it, and it takes most of the work out of a crawling E11 evening or the stop-start grind through Business Bay. Renters regularly tell us this is the thing they miss when they go back to a petrol automatic.
Quick enough, and cold enough
The rear motor's 283 hp takes it from 0 to 100 in 5.6 seconds, which covers any merge or overtake you'll attempt at legal speeds. In summer, temperature matters more than pace, so two heat notes. Cool the cabin from the app before you walk out, because that's half the point of having the app at all. And expect the roughly 430 km WLTP range to shrink in July, when the AC and battery cooling take their share. A city week barely notices beyond one extra charging stop.
Charging around your week
Plan charging around meals, not around the car. Malls and residential districts carry public chargers, Superchargers cover the highway corridors, and a fast-charge stop about the length of a lunch takes the battery from low to comfortable. Treat it like a phone, topped up whenever it's parked anyway, and you'll stop thinking about it by day two.
The rest of the car
Five seats, four doors, and a 542 litre boot plus a front trunk, which covers a family airport run without dropping the rear seats. The back row suits two adults properly and three for short hops. Ride and noise are fine around town and composed at 120, though this generation transmits more road texture than the 2024 update does.
Tolls, fines and paperwork
Salik crossings and any RTA fines during the rental land on you, and speed cameras here don't flash visibly, so drive to the posted limits. Under-fours need child seats by law. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before pickup, and if plans firm up late, doorstep delivery arrives within a couple of hours of booking.
Where it lands
This is the Tesla to learn on. First EV, young renter, a city-based week: right car, no debate from us. The 2024 Model 3 is worth the step up when your itinerary leans on long highway days or you want the quieter cabin, and the Model 3 Performance exists for people who care about the shove more than the badge. But if the question is whether your first Tesla should be this one, it should.
