Three tiers of sedan car rental in Dubai
The budget saloons are for parking and short trips, the Mazda 6 and A3 are for daily distance, and the Teslas are for people who can charge where they sleep. The Sunny and Attrage are the cheapest cars we rent in any shape. They're fine for a week of errands and the school run, but at 120 km/h for an hour each way they get loud, and the Attrage's three-cylinder engine works hard with four aboard.
The Emgrand is the pick of the budget four: newer, quieter, with a 500-litre boot and a cabin that doesn't feel like a taxi.
The Mazda 6 is the car we'd point most commuters at. It's a full-size saloon, 4.87 metres long, with a 474-litre boot, a soft ride, and the kind of seats you can sit in for two hours without noticing. The Audi A3 saloon is smaller, 4.5 metres, with a 425-litre boot and the badge.
Between the two for a week on the E11, the Mazda. For a week of tower car parks and client meetings, the A3.
When the Model 3 beats a petrol sedan
If you have a charger at your villa or your office, the Tesla Model 3 is the best sedan we rent for a week of commuting, and if you don't, it's the worst. That's the whole test. With a plug at home, you leave every morning full, the range covers any Dubai commute with the Abu Dhabi round trip on top, and the boot and front trunk together hold more than the Mazda 6.
Without a plug, you're spending an hour at a public charger every few days, and a hotel guest with long days will find that old very quickly. The Model 3 Performance and Model S are the same idea with more speed. The HiPhi Z is a four-seater showpiece, not a commuter.

Sedan or SUV
A sedan wins for the commute, the airport run, and any week that lives on tarmac. An SUV earns its place when you need seven seats, a taller boot opening, or the ground clearance for a track. In Dubai that's a smaller group than the SUV listing suggests.
A Mazda 6 boot takes two large cases and two cabin bags with the parcel shelf closed, which is more than a compact crossover manages, and the saloon cools faster because the boot isn't part of the cabin. If your week involves five people, a dune, or a Hatta track day, move to the SUVs. If it involves client pickups where the car matters, the MG8 and BMW X1 in the business class were chosen for that.
For everyone else: the Emgrand if the budget is tight, the Mazda 6 if the commute is long, and the Model 3 if you can plug it in at night.

Which sedan car rental in Dubai has the biggest boot for an airport run?
The Geely Emgrand at 500 litres, followed by the Nissan Sunny at 490 and the Mazda 6 at 474. All three take two large cases and two cabin bags. The Tesla Model 3 has a rear boot of about 425 litres plus a front trunk, so its total is similar once you use both.
The Audi A3 saloon, at 425 litres, manages two large cases but nothing much beside them. For a family of four with checked bags, take the Emgrand or the Mazda.
Is the Tesla Model 3 a sensible sedan for a week in Dubai?
Yes, if you can charge it where you're staying, and no if you can't. With a villa or office charger, the Model 3 is the cheapest sedan here to run, the quietest, and the quickest. Without one, you'll be visiting a public DEWA charger every third day and planning your week around it.
The Abu Dhabi round trip is comfortable on one charge. If your accommodation has no charger, the Mazda 6 gives you a very similar week without the planning.
