Bestune is the passenger-car brand of FAW, the Chinese state carmaker that builds Toyotas and Volkswagens for its home market in joint ventures, and its Dubai grid is one model. The T77 sits a size above the ZS and the Coolray
A five-seat compact crossover, 4.5 metres long, with a 1.5-litre turbo of around 160 hp driving the front wheels through an automatic. That puts it a size above the MG ZS and the Geely Coolray on our other grids and level with the Haval Jolion, and it has more pull than any of them on the merge onto Sheikh Zayed Road. When to rent Bestune cars in Dubai, and when the H6 wins
Book the T77 if the cabin and the engine matter more than the boot. If the boot matters more, the Haval H6 and the Exeed LX sit in the same class on the standard grid with more luggage space, and if you want the cheapest crossover we rent rather than the best-equipped, the MG ZS is on the MG grid. Anyone planning a track to Hatta needs four-wheel drive, which the T77 doesn't have and the Jetour T2 does.

The T77 sits on FAW's own platform with FAW's own 1.5-litre turbo and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and the cabin, the screens and the software are Bestune's. Where that shows in daily use is the gearbox: the dual-clutch is smooth once moving and slightly hesitant in stop-start traffic on Al Khail Road, so leave a little more gap than you would in a Toyota with a conventional automatic.

Does the T77 cool down quickly after sitting in the sun?
Quickly enough, and the colour you pick has a say in it. If both cars are free on your dates and yours will spend the day parked outside at the office or on the street, take the white T77 over the blue, because it soaks up less heat and the cabin starts a few degrees cooler when you get back in. Close the roof blind before you walk away, since the glass roof is the biggest single source of heat in this cabin, and point the nose away from the afternoon sun if the car park gives you the choice.
