The TXL has a 1.6-litre turbo, 450 litres, a longer wheelbase and a cabin trimmed a clear grade above, with the wireless phone charger and the quieter ride that come with it. The VX is 4.97 metres long, with a 2.0-litre turbo through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, four-wheel drive, seven seats and a sunroof.
What surprises people at handover is the finish. The screens are large in all three, the seats are leather from the TXL up, and the doors shut like a Korean car's rather than like a cheap one. It's the reason the TXL, not the VX, is the car we'd hand most families.
The 2026 LX only wins on kilometres
Take the 2026 when both are listed for your dates, and don't lose sleep if only a 2024 is there. It's the same 1.5-litre turbo and the same 400-litre boot, so the difference is kilometres on the clock and the freshness of the cabin, and on a car whose cabin is the selling point that's worth having. The other thing to check is colour. As listed, the 2026 and one of the 2024s are grey and the other 2024 is black, and a black roof in a Kite Beach car park in August turns the cabin into an oven before the air conditioning gets a say. In winter it makes no difference at all.
The VX with seven aboard
Seven people fit in the VX. Seven people and their airport luggage don't. With the third row up there's room for soft bags and a couple of cabin cases, so a family of six flying in with checked bags works with the third row folded and one child in the middle row, and seven adults with a case each doesn't work at all. Fold the third row and it's a proper boot again, which is how the car spends most of its life.
Its four-wheel drive is a road car's four-wheel drive, for a wet January morning on Sheikh Zayed Road or the climb to Jebel Jais, not for dunes. Off-road use is confirmed at booking, car by car, and for sand the honest answer is usually the Chevrolet Tahoe on its own grid. For seven seats on tarmac, the VX's rivals on our fleet are the Jetour X70 Plus, a front-wheel-drive 1.5 that's the cheaper way to carry seven, and the MG RX9, which is the closest match in size and engine. The Exeed to rent in Dubai for each group size
For two people, or a family of four with light luggage, the LX, and the 2026 where it's listed. For a family of four who'll live in the car for a month, the TXL. It carries 50 litres more than the LX, it's quieter at 120 km/h, and it parks in a Marina tower bay that the VX has to think about. Take the VX only if the third row will actually have people in it. If seven is a maybe, the TXL does everything the VX does with less to park and less to fuel.

If I rent Exeed cars in Dubai for a family of five, which one fits?
The TXL for five people with a normal week's luggage, and the VX with its third row folded for five people who each land at DXB with a large case. The TXL's boot takes three large cases, which is a family's luggage when the children are small and packed together, and not when there are three teenagers with a case each. Fold the VX's third row and it out-carries the TXL by a clear margin, so for that airport week the bigger car is the practical one even though nobody sits in the back.
